Dear Caleb
Happy 5th birthday! Tonight we had a small family birthday party for you. We have been on vacation in Michigan for about a week, so we had to throw your party together at the last minute. Last night I ran to Wal-Mart after you went to bed, bought you a few presents and wrapped them. (New Play doh, buzz light-year learning game, big boy bath toys, and a hamster toy.) We let you open one present early in the day, play doh, which gave you something new to play with. After dinner we sang you Happy Birthday and gave you the rest of you presents. Daddy tucked you into bed, and an hour later you came out and we had this conversation
“Mommy I forgot something.”
“What did you forget honey?”
You hugged and kissed me and said, “Thank you for all the presents.”
This just amazed me, we hadn’t told you to say thank you. We just wanted you to have a great birthday, and this just made me realize that you are the sweetest little boy who is grateful for all of his blessings.
This year you are starting kindergarten and I am so proud of you. You are a intelligent, articulate, willful, adorable little boy. You are sweet to your baby sister and are always trying to help with her and play with her, without being asked.
I will love you always!
Mommy
PS today when decorating your cake, I had it all decorated and Daddy looked at it and said, it’s great but he’s FIVE. I had carefully put a 4 on the cake with M&M’s ;) Time goes by so fast! I lose track!
